The USBLN offers several unique programming for its Corporate Members, BLN
Affiliates and other stakeholders interested in promoting disability employment.
The USBLN hosts its annual conference every fall-- complete with a line-up
of dynamic speakers, ground-breaking informational sessions, networking
opportunities and trend-setting business-to-business dialogue. Not only is
the USBLN annual conference the preeminent national event for business, community
leaders and BLN affiliates that have an interest in hiring, retaining and
marketing to people with disabilities, it also offers recertification credit
hours toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the Human Resource
Certification Institute (HRCI).
The USBLN promotes customer service among its membership dedicated to expanding
the marketplace to include all customers, including customers with disabilities.
To that end, USBLN disability marketing strategies strive to include more
advertising targeted to customers with disabilities and recruiting to potential
workers with disabilities.
In 2008, adding "Disability" to diversity supplier programs was spearheaded
by the USBLN. Current data demonstrates that small business development is
a growing, substantial form of employment and according to recent statistics,
self-employment rates were highest among people with disabilities. Corporate
diversity supplier programs identify and provide business opportunities to
for-profit enterprises that are minority owned, operated and controlled by
diverse populations. Americans with disabilities should be fully participating,
but some critical needs exist. In response to these needs, the USBLN has
identified and worked collaboratively with founding partners to develop and
launch a self-sustaining Diversity Disability Supplier Program.

In 2008, an online "Promising Practices Library" was launched by the USBLN
at www.usbln.org. This new resource is
designed to offer small and large businesses, alike, access to a virtual
library of information, emerging trends, useful tips and policy initiatives.
This is a members-only benefit.
The USBLN has several youth-related programs of importance to its BLNs and
corporate members. Starting in 2006, the USBLN has facilitated the Youth-to-Work
Coalition and hosted its first Career Fair, while in 2007 the USBLN initiated
its Student Advisory Council and forged important strategic partnerships
with outstanding organizers and companies to advance youth employment nationwide.
